About Us

First Baptist Church Weekday Childcare is a program sponsored and supported by First Baptist Church and its members.  It was founded in 1976 for the purpose of providing our community with Christian education for all children within an atmosphere for intellectual, social, emotional, physical and spiritual development.  We encourage children to reach their full potential by offering opportunities through which they are able to experience love and understanding.

Each day we seek to create an environment that...

  • Fosters self-esteem
  • Recognizes the individuality of each child and allows that child to develop at his or her own pace
  • Provides opportunities for self-expression, investigation, experimentation and participation in group activities
  • Increases independence in meeting and solving problems
  • Strengthens inner emotional controls and growth toward self-discipline
  • Provides experiences that will satisfy children's desire for knowledge
  • Guides and helps prepare each child for a successful school experience
  • Promotes health, physical growth and motor development
  • Provides opportunities for the child to grow and develop in their understanding of God

Our Daily Activities

Everyday staff and teachers provide opportunities for children to develop skills in sharing, taking turns, making friends, resolving conflicts, solving problems, helping others, and recognizing and accepting others.  Daily routines include age appropriate lesson plans, indoor/outdoor play, breakfast, hot lunch, afternoon snack and child/teacher directed center activities.

Children are exposed to activities where they...

  • Work with paints, clay, crayons, blocks and other manipulatives
  • Can enjoy books, poetry, dramatization, and music
  • Learn to plan, work, think, and reason
  • Experience and learn foundational truths of the Christian faith
  • Learn readiness skills through various avenues of hands-on activities and experiences, field trips, cooking, etc.
